Code of Practice

ATI-Mirage is a West Australian owned organisation. The company was formed in October 2003 by the amalgamation of Australian Training Institutes (established 1983) and Mirage Technology (established 1990). The company provides training in computer skills, leadership, communication, business writing and other professional development training to the Government and private sectors. The company is also involved in the supply of professional training and room hire facilities to a number of organisations Australia-wide.

ATI-Mirage is committed to providing quality training to its customers. The philosophy of ATI-Mirage is to provide a flexible, broadly based and modularised training programmes for its customers, to ensure a maximum return on the training dollar spent coupled with optimum learning for skills transfer. ATI-Mirage firmly embraces the principles and theories of Adult Learning and incorporates these techniques in their training programmes.

ATI-Mirage is committed to the maintenance of high standards in the provision of education and training and other client services. The foundation upon which this Code is based is founded in the following statement of ethical principles.

“ATI-Mirage guarantees its policies and management practices support the maintenance of high professional standards in the marketing and delivery of education and training services and safeguard the interests and welfare of its clients, employees and all other stakeholders”.

ATI-Mirage will:

  • ensure that all advertising and marketing activities are conducted in an ethical manner. This policy is also to ensure that all statements made in any advertising or marketing materials;
    • are accurate and unambiguous
    • follow national and TAC guidelines
    • are only about the services that ATI-Mirage offers
    • are designed to clearly distinguish accredited courses from non-accredited courses
    • do not detract from the good reputation and interests of other educational institutions nor make negative comparisons and/or derogatory statements about them

 

  • provide an opportunities for all to undertake training that will not be restricted on grounds of nationality, place of birth, language, age, sex, sexual preference, marital status, pregnancy, disability, geography, political or religious beliefs or educational background.
     
  • ensure that as an RTO meets its legislative requirements and AQTF – Essential Conditions and Standards for operating as an RTO.
    • comply with the following components:
      • AQTF Essential Conditions and Standards for Initial Registration
      • AQTF Essential Conditions and Standards for Continuing Registration
      • The Quality Indicators
      • AQTF Standards for State and Territory Registered Bodies
      • AQTF Standards for Accredited Courses

    •  commits to adhere to the requirements of all relevant State and Commonwealth legislation such as:
      • Occupational Safety & Health Act (WA)1984
      • Privacy Act 1988
      • Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Commission Act 1986
      • Racial Discrimination Act 1975
      • Industrial Relations Act 1998
      • Sex Discrimination Act 1984
      • Disability Discrimination Act 1993

  • continuously improving. This is the process by which ATI-Mirage ensures that the quality of the training services provided are continually monitored and reviewed and where appropriate, improved.
     
  • ensure that student records are secure at all times. A Back-up of our server and of the VETtrak system will be conducted no less than once a week. ATI-Mirage has developed a procedure for the transition of an emergency recovery and it is accessible on request.
     
  • ensure our organisation’s senior management are deemed to be fit and proper persons that have the managerial acumen to act in the best interest of the organisation and its employees and to also be a good corporate citizen.
     
  • formalise competency by issuing a Certificate for completing a full qualification. This certificate will also contain an academic transcript on a separate page that lists the units that were completed. Statements of Attainment will follow the guidelines as per the AQF Implementation Handbook.
    • A Statement of Attainment will be issued at the successful completion of a unit of competence at no cost to the student. Re-issue of a Statement or Certificate will incur an administration fee, which includes the cost of postage.
       
  • collect, analyse and report information against the three quality indicators (QIs)—the Learner Engagement, Employer Satisfaction and Competency Completion. ATI-Mirage submits an annual summary report to their regulator against the three quality indicators. The annual summary report is due on 30 June each year and relates to the previous calendar year’s activities. The range of information required to be included in the summary report are the courses and subjects in which students are enrolled, their age and gender, and where training is occurring.
     
  • ensures that the students have the opportunity to transfer to the most recent qualification. When making the decision to transfer to the new qualification the following should be considered;
    • proportion of the qualification that has been completed
    • potential advantage or disadvantage to student
    • A student must be allowed to complete the course in which they originally enrolled or be transferred to the replacement course with minimum disadvantage to the student. The students who are required to be transitioned to the new qualification must be advised of the following:
      • Date of launch of the new qualification
      • Process for credit transfer
      • Their rights for Course fee transfer
         
  • provide trainers that are suitably qualified and are committed to student outcomes.
     
  • ensure that training and assessment occur in accordance with the requirements of the accredited course and, where appropriate, the State Training Authority guidelines for customising courses.
     
  • guarantee a fair and equitable process for dealing with students grievances. ATI-Mirage aims to deal with issues as soon as they emerge, in order to avoid further disruption or the need for a formal complaint.
     
  • recognise and accept Statement of Attainment for units of competency, or complete qualification such as certificate or diploma issued by another registered training organisation based in any State/Territory of Australia.
     
  • use recognition of prior learning (RPL) – process
    • Step 1: Register your interest and collect evidence
    • Step 2: RPL Interview
    • Step 3: Demonstration Assessment
    • Step 4:  Notification of outcome
       
  • not disclose any information that is gathered about our staff or students to any third party.  The company will use the information collected only for the services provided.  No staff or student information is shared with another organisation.  If staff or student information is required by a third party, then ATI-Mirage will obtain written consent from the relevant staff or client prior to release of any information. ATI-Mirage will comply and adhere to the Privacy Act 1988.
     
  • ATI-Mirage when working with industry coordinators will adhere to the finance policies and procedures of organisations purchasing the courses.
    ATI-Mirage will enter a contractual arrangement with the organisation and negotiate terms of payment inclusive of refunding.
    All individual enrolments will be subjected to alternative payment arrangements as per ‘Condition 5 – Financial Management, (option 3) of the AQTF User Guide to the Essential Conditions and Standards for Continuing Registration.
