This course gives participants the knowledge required to take a proactive and structured approach to WHS risk management, in turn reducing the likelihood and impact of workplace incidents, while protecting both personnel and organisational assets.
This course is designed for anyone requiring Schedule 26 training. If you’re with RTIO, this program is recognised as AQF5.

Participants will be assessed through a combination of knowledge assessments, practical exercises, and group discussions during the course. Successful completion of post course workplace activities are also required after the training.
WorkSafe Requirement: Part 10.7A of the Work Health and Safety (Mines) Regulations 2022 [WHS (Mines) Regulations] prescribes positions in relation to mines. These statutory positions are appointed by the mine operator to carry out specific functions in relation to the operations of a mine.
Statutory positions are classified in several categories, with different functions and obligations, and levels of knowledge, experience and formal qualifications for the appointed persons.

What is the Site Senior Executive WHS Risk Management Training?
The Site Senior Executive (SSE) WHS Risk Management Training provides essential expertise in Work Health and Safety (WHS) and risk management. This training is specifically designed for aspiring SSEs in the mining sector of Western Australia, equipping them with the necessary skills, knowledge, and nationally recognized Units of Competency.
What does the program cover?
The program covers three Units of Competency, in alignment with Schedule 26 of the WHS (Mines) Regulations (WA) 2022, as mandated by WorkSafe. These units ensure that participants are well-versed in the critical aspects of WHS and risk management.
Are there any additional requirements to complete the program?
Yes, in addition to completing the Units of Competency, participants must pass an examination administered by the Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety (DMIRS). For further information about the examination, please visit the official DMIRS website.

WorkSafe Requirement: To be eligible for appointment to all statutory positions, except authorised mine surveyor, winding engine driver and high voltage operator, a person must have completed the national units of competency in health and safety risk management approved for that position.
This course covers the Unit of Competency, which meets the WorkSafe requirements under Schedule 26 of the WHS (Mines) Regulations (WA) 2022:
WorkSafe Requirement: To be eligible for appointment to any statutory positions, except electrical supervisor, high voltage operator and winding engine driver, a person must pass the applicable examination on mining health and safety law.
This is managed by the Department of Energy, Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety (DEMIRS) – more information is outlined on the DEMIRS website.
Candidates should have more than two years mining experience, in a senior supervisory or management role, and be likely to be appointed to a Senior Statutory Position aligning to the WHS (Mines) Regulations 2022, specifically Schedule 26.
